¡Hola! Mi nombre es Abby Pontzer Kamkar, soy madre de dos niños pequeños y he trabajado en educación durante más de diez años. Como muchas personas, me mudé a Burbank por las excelentes escuelas. Como miembro de la junta, buscaría expandir esa excelencia brindando más oportunidades para más estudiantes.

Como líder senior en una organización nacional de educación sin fines de lucro, sé cómo trabajar dentro y fuera de los distritos para hacer las cosas. Creo que combinar mi experiencia como madre con mi experiencia en negocios y educación me convierte en una fuerza imparable para las familias de Burbank. Espero trabajar para USTEDES y nuestra comunidad.

Me considero extremadamente afortunado de llamarme madre, parte de Burbank USD: ganamos la lotería (literalmente) para asistir al Programa de inmersión dual en español. Durante el proceso de inscripción, vi varias oportunidades para involucrar más a las familias y ser más proactivos en las comunicaciones. Contamos con un personal docente y administrativo increíble, y deberíamos aprovechar su experiencia académica y de desarrollo para mejorar fundamentalmente los resultados de los estudiantes.

Hello! My name is Abby Pontzer Kamkar, and I’m a mom of two young children and have worked in education for over ten years. Like many people, I moved to Burbank because of the excellent schools. As a Board Member, I would seek to expand that excellence, by providing more opportunities for more students.

As a senior leader at a national education non-profit, I know how to work inside and outside of districts to get things done. I believe that combining my experience as a parent with my experience in business and education makes me an unstoppable force for Burbank families. I look forward to working for YOU and our community.

I consider myself extremely lucky to call myself a Burbank USD parent -- we won the lottery (literally) to attend the Spanish Dual Immersion Program. Going through the enrollment process, I saw a number of opportunities to get families more involved and to be more proactive in communications. We have an amazing teaching and administrative staff, and we should be leveraging their academic and developmental expertise to fundamentally improve student outcomes.
